Basic strategy is a proven strategy for winning in blackjack. It is a system that requires knowing only both the player’s hand and the dealer’s up-card in order to maximize the player’s expectation. In single deck blackjack, basic strategy could actually be used to give the players who use it a slight advantage over the house. Many casino managers today however are already aware of this technique and blackjack casino games that can be beaten off the top of the deck are not normally offered as much. There are still promotional casino games played from time to time though, so you may want to be on the lookout for them!
When it comes down to it, basic blackjack strategy is simply a technique that is based on the mathematics of blackjack. When done correctly basic strategy reduces the house advantage to the minimum, often down to one-half percent! And the beauty of it is, even relatively new blackjack players can learn it!
Depending on the casino that you are playing in, you may have to make minor adjustments to basic strategy. The technique is also slightly different for single blackjack and multiple deck blackjack games.
